About

The Clarendon Peace and Justice Centre was founded in 2009 at 20 Bryants Crescent, May Pen, Clarendon as an affiliate of the Dispute Resolution Foundation. We strive to give ordinary people the information and opportunity they need to be involved and effective in the efforts to change our country and our world.

MISSION STATEMENT:

To raise awareness, develop resources, and provide advocacy to enhance and expand court, schools and community programs that improve outcomes and restorative solutions for offenders, victims and the larger community.

OUR VISION:

To transform the way justice is traditionally administered by bringing the family, community, schools and courts together to focus on repairing harm and rehabilitating offenders, thereby creating peaceful, healthier, safer, and more hopeful for all through education, training, mediation, and counselling.

OUR VALUES:

  • We believe that all people are inherently valuable, regardless of their level of ability or disability and their socio-economic status in the society. Each person has the right to be treated with dignity and respect.

  • We believe that personal problems such as education, finances, family dysfunction, mental illness, addiction and homelessness can be the underlying cause(s) of maladaptive behaviours.

  • We believe that all people should be afforded the opportunity to develop to their full potential.

  • We believe that creative programs can be a change agent both for individuals, families, schools, courts and communities.

  • We believe that the greatest success for individuals can be accomplished in partnership with others in the community, such as policy makers, service providers, neighborhood groups and faith groups.
